So school was cancelled today...strangest thing since there was ZERO snow on the ground until about 4:20pm. Evidently most areas to the north of us were being hit but Seattle and the Eastside were in some kind of "pocket." I took the kids to the YMCA thinking I'd make Malakai's swim class. Just as soon as I got out of the house and to the "Y" I noticed a "thick" rain mixed with snow. It was a bit like ice droping from the sky, only it was a little soft. Wierd. Anyhow, when it landed it was white and I figured it would pass. I checked the kids in and within 10 minutes the "snow" was already building-up. I grabbed the kids in a frenzy to get home before everyone else tried to do the same. I was alredy sliding out of the parking lot and fearful of the rest of my drive. Needless to say I made it...barely. I even pulled off in a nearby neighborhood hoping Terry could come to the rescue but I couldn't reach him. I was afraid to go down the gradual slope leading to our house. I found a back-route that almost got me within a block and thought "maybe I can walk with the kids?" I was scared though cuz people were sliding all over the place and I didn't want us to get run-over. I decided to follow a car down the slope and I actually had no problem. I immediately took the kids outside and we had the best time. Snowball throwin, angel-makin', and sledding for about an hour. Kai was so excited to be playing in the snow he didn't quite make it inside to go to the bathroom. That ended our evening and the kiddos jumped in a hot bath. I reassured Malakai that there would still be snow tomorrow and we'd make our snowman. Now, hopefully it will be safe for us to travel to Portland on Monday...
